Fruit Bats or flying foxs over Cairns in Queensland, Australia. These mammals feed on rainforest fruits are are an essential part of the ecosystem, helping to spread rainforest tree seeds. Climate change has lead to many periods of heatwave and excessive temperatures. Temperatures over 42 degrees centigrade (now not uncommon in many parts of the fruit bats range) have resulted in fruit bat mortality causing them to die form hyperthermia.
