Image No: IMG_4814_breached

Much of the North Norfolk coast around Cley is protected by a shingle storm beach. Climate change is driving both sea level rise and increased stormy weather, leading to a great incidence of storms breaching the shinlge barrier. In the past, the council used buldozers to rebuild the shingle barrier, but have now abandoned it. This shot shows where the shingle barrier has been breached by a recent storm, revealing some of the old coastal defences.
