Winters are getting both warmer and wetter and in Southern Finland winters are becoming increasingly snow free. As permafrost melts across the Arctic huge quantities of carbon dioxide and methane could be released leading to even further warming. Such iconic winter scenes could in a relatively short space of time become a thing of the past. Many southern ski resorts face an uncertain future as the planet warms.
